Building the Gear

Here I am starting to work on the tail skid. in the last couple pics I stained it slightly just so it shows up better. I still need to sand on it and attack the fitting to it when I get the fittings in. right now it is just a rough carving.















Here I am starting to work on the Main Gear Fairings. I am using 1/4" x10 1/8" x 1 3/8" wood for each half. I then routered a groove in each for the 3/16" landing gear wires. My next step now that they are fitting pretty good, will be to use 3m 77 type spray adhesive to join the 2 halves together temporarily and plane and sand them to an airfoilish type shape. Once that is done I will have to notch them to allow the lower wing to sit in place.
